Life cycle thinking is an important consideration as global and national food systems have evolved considerably over the last few decades. With the emergence of smart technologies, food systems are set to evolve even faster in this new SDG-led Decade of Action. Agritech and foodtech accelerators across the globe continue to drive innovation along the food lifecycle. Disruptive technologies will no doubt change how we grow, process, store and retail food. The future of food is both exciting and unpredictable.

However, this pattern of continuous change will need to be focused on the fast-emerging population challenges only three decades away. Lifecycle analysis can help. Lifecycle thinking enables us to break down the processes along the food production chain, right through to food loss and waste management. As food systems become more complex globally, lifecycle assessments can enable us move more confidently towards achieving our SDG targets. Thus, this course will provide you with the necessary tools and approaches.
