The Masterclass on maintaining food safety in a sustainable food system will explore the pillars of sustainability and how actions taken to achieve different metrics could impact food safety of manufactured food products.

It is worth mentioning that this 3 hour long focusing on Food Safety in a Sustainable Food System is not designed to teach the participants everything about the topic. The focus in this case is on Sustainability in the food system, we want to provide practical next steps for businesses to take into account the steps to achieving sustainability in their process and business model without compromising food safety.

Course participants will gain new perspectives and practical tools to address their individual and corporate objectives. Key take-aways will include guidance to identify risk areas in the business, considerations for sustainable and safe product design considerations and an understanding of integrated decision-making in multi-disciplinary teams.

Barbara Bray Barbara Bray Facilitator

Barbara elevates the food system in pursuit of safe, nutritious and sustainable food for everyone. Her work delivers food safety in food supply chains and nutrition strategy for businesses, alongside leadership and educational roles in her public engagement activities. In 2017, Barbara was awarded a Nuffield Farming Scholarship and travelled worldwide to study international food and farming systems. In 2019, Barbara was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for her 'Services to Food Nutrition’. Barbara is a Fellow of the Institute of Food Safety and Technology and is a Registered Nutritionist currently researching diets to protect health in a doctoral training programme at the Centre for Public Health at Queen’s University Belfast.
