international day of awareness of food loss & waste

International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste Webinar

Join us for a free webinar on September 29, 2021 as we recognise the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss & Waste.  The webinar will promote global efforts and collective action towards meeting the Sustainable Development Goal Target 12.3 – halve per capita food waste at the retail and consumer level by 2030, and reduce food losses along the food production and supply chains.

With the current Agrifood practise, we will need a 70% increase in Agrifood production for us to meet demand from the increasing world population estimated to reach 9.5 billion by 2050. However, by preventing edible food waste and recovering value from inedible food waste to improve food production, we will be mitigating global concerns of feeding over 800 million hungry people and improving access to nutrition for 1.9 billion people that are currently malnourished.

This webinar hosts a wide range of experts across the globe from policy makers, researchers and industry leaders who will share the actions that their organisations are planning and delivering to enhance food industry sustainability devoid of waste.

At the webinar, we will publish the current global state of food loss and waste based on insight from The Global Food Loss and Waste Tracker’ app launched on World Sustainable Gastronomy Day during London Circular Economy week on June 18th, 2021. More details about The Global Food Loss and Waste tracker can be found here.
