Pan African Society for Agricultural Engineering (PASAE) and the Nigerian Institution for Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) held a joint conference (PASAE-NIAE) between April 19th-22nd 2021. The International Conference raised awareness regarding Africa’s renaissance through knowledge and practice-driven agriculture and agriculture-led industrialization. Africa has immense potential in their citizens, farming and natural resources – however, they are underexploited and underutilized.
The conference theme was ‘Engineering Africa’s Agro-Industrial Transformation for Economic Prosperity and Sustainable Development’. At IntelliDigest we are honoured to have participated in the conference – our CEO Dr Ifeanyinwa Kanu spoke about agriculture, smart farming and the 4th industrial revolution.
Agriculture, smart farming and the 4th industrial revolution can all aid in helping Africa achieve sustainable development and economic prosperity – this can be accomplished by using technologies such as drones, AI, robotics and machine learning to transform agriculture.
Agriculturual technologies will allow Africa to thrive and create intra-continental markets. Revolutionary agricultural development opportunities can transform Africa and achieve Africa Agenda 2063. Agenda 2063 aims to make Africa the biggest powerhouse in the world through sustainable development, infrastructure development and food security. All these revolutionary prospects will create employment, reduce poverty and make sure nobody goes hungry.
